In 2007 I was Jo-Ann Vacing, a woman in hiding, playing small and staying safe. I was a licensee of another company that worked to provide women in business solutions for business challenges.
I most certainly wasn’t living the life I dreamt of – the life I lead today. Back then my life resembled more a life of dishes, dreams, murky water and the odd glint of desire.
I knew something had to give; something big had to change! Up until then I was living vicariously through others, and helping them achieve their success – which I loved. Seeing others soar has always fed my soul.
The only limitation was that delivery was one-to-one and only addressed the challenges in business. Ultimately, I knew I was meant to do much more.
Which meant I had to do the work. Dreaming alone would change nothing.
I began writing my memoir in July of 2007. At the time I was uncertain if I would publish, but I knew I had to write it down! I have always been a storyteller, but this was my life, my story and I feared what others would think.
Secretly, ever since I was a young girl I had always wanted to be a writer and help others. That’s the thing about stories. They get into your being, and change how you view the world
At the time I wasn’t sure what would come of it. In 2012, I decided to go for it and stepped away from my licensee role. In 2013, I committed to publishing my story and knew that if I did, there was no turning back. I knew that the story, although tragic at times, was compelling and inspirational.
And so I did it! I did the work.
But the book wasn’t enough. I knew there needed to be a place to go – a place where tools, resources and knowledge could be found. A community of like-minded people. There wasn’t anything quite like that out there. I was looking for programs that were inclusive, and there were none.
It was frustrating. Over and over again I saw a void in the marketplace.
And I decided enough was enough. There had to be a better way. One that provided a comprehensive and inclusive solution that addressed the importance providing what we call the trifecta of success. Because true success is found when all three areas – life, love, and business – are successful and sustainable.
So, I made it all up as I went, with the mindset that we don’t have to go it alone. Soon Best Kept Secret to Success in Life, Love, and Business was born.
